Our TTC update

Thankfully things have calmed down around here for enough time to blog!

This one will probably be about stuff you dont want to hear! As of this evening I did my 6th Follistim injection. I have been doing so well on them that it even surprises me.

So starting from the beginning. We have been trying to have a baby for 2 years and 7 months now. We started seeing a Reproductive Endocronologist (RE for short) in May 08. We did 6 round of clomid with no success, sadly. I had one miscarriage that summer but was not able to get pregnant after that. Fast forward to recent times! In January we started seeing a new RE and he started me on Femara. Which also didnt work. Because he wasnt the doctor we were looking for I visited another one. They proceeded to agree that I needed injections but messed up my Tricare approval for those meds. So I took my business elsewhere! We are currently driving 2 hours each way to see one of the best REs I have visited! He is efficient, knowledgeable, and actually listens to what WE want and helps us get there.

He decided to start me on injections. After 6 days of prometrium to start my cycle I got it on day 8, just 2 days after the last pill. I started my injections on CD 5 and I am now on CD 10.

On Friday (4 days after injections) I had an ultrasound to measure follicles and count how many I have produced. I am responding very well to the injections and have 7 follicles that range between 7-9mm each. That is EXTREMELY well for only 4 days of injections. They had to move my follow up ultrasound by 2 days (we go again on Monday) because of this. My e2 (estrogen) levels were at 240! Which is also very good for 4 days! We are hoping to trigger ovulation (another kind of injection) at 5 healthy follicles (healthy follicle = >18 mm) for the maximum chance of conception! There is always the chance of multiples and from our research on this it shows a 27% chance of twins, 3.5% chance of triplets, and 0.5% chance of quadruplets.

I am excited yet nervous for Monday morning to see what our follicles look like. If I produce too many it can result in stopping this cycle so I am hoping that I stick with 5-6 follicles maturing at a decent rate.

And that is what we have been up to these days! TTC is wearing me out!
